WHC alone snagged 153 of those, nearly 65% of the entire haul, leaving the rest of the registrar class to split scraps.

The breadth of WHC's grab was almost surgical. They pulled down the cream: alts.ca, a four-character dictionary word that screams utility; obi.ca, a three-letter knockout; iles.ca, same compact elegance. But they didn't stop with the short stuff. WHC also landed backpacker.ca, stockings.ca, yangtze.ca, palette.ca, and beatlemania.ca—a mix of practical nouns and memorable phrases that reads like someone with a clear-eyed playbook for Canadian commercial domains. They also stacked three-character codes (ciq.ca, yhk.ca, zeq.ca) that suggest either portfolio depth or selective bet-hedging.

BareMetal.com inc played the secondary role with 46 catches, landing their own trophy pieces: rainmaker.ca (a natural for sales-focused brands), virtuelle.ca (French, clean, European vibes), verna.ca, and a pair of four-character shorts (oden.ca, cojo.ca). Webnames.ca Inc. and MyID.ca INC. scraped together 18 and 11 respectively, with Webnames catching besom.ca and MyID grabbing muv.ca. Everyone else—Namespro Solutions Inc., Register.ca Inc., CanSpace Solutions Inc.—picked up singles like trophies.

What stings harder is what didn't move. imam.ca, hove.ca, ment.ca, and mkay.ca are all four-character dictionary words rated at 100-brand strength, yet they're still sitting in the open pool. fibrillation.ca, valuables.ca, divines.ca—legitimate, 81-brand-rated words—all ghosted. Even the curiosities like sodomy.ca and noradrenaline.ca went unpicked, despite their strong scores. Either the market is spooked by certain phrases, the registrar playbook has narrowed considerably, or a lot of would-be catchers came empty-handed this week.

The 2.35% catch rate is lean by any measure. It suggests either that the TBR pool was thin on premium material, or that registrars are being pickier—maybe both. WHC's dominance tells its own story: when one player lands two-thirds of the haul, everyone else is playing checkers. This week's hunt was less a free-for-all and more a coronation.
